Driving Force

Volunteer Driving, put your foot down to help local people!

Driving Opportunities

  • Use your own car to provide personal door to door transport for someone who may be disabled, older or frail, a young person from school to foster home and transport to hospital and after school clubs
  • Take people in mini buses to day centres, lunch clubs and on group outings

All it takes

  • A heart of gold
  • Patience
  • Goodwill
  • An hour or two once in a while – or more often if you wish

All you need

  • A clean driving licence
  • A telephone so we can contact you

If you are using your own car you will also need:

  • To check with your insurance company that it is in order for you to carry passengers for a voluntary organisation
  • An up-to-date MOT certificate

What we can give you

  • If you are using your own car you charge mileage at 45p per mile and this can help with the running costs for your vehicle
  • All out of pocket expenses
  • The chance to meet people
  • The opportunity of helping in your community and a sense of achievement
  • MiDAS training, a Hampshire County Council qualification as a mini bus driver
  • Choice – the type of driving and when it is convenient for you
